Schools Education Program
Sports betting prevention education for students, parents, caregivers and school communities.
Why the schools program is needed
The last few years have seen the largest expansion of sports betting in US history. As counselors who have worked with hundreds of families impacted by this unprecedented gambling boom, we have witnessed the devastation this has caused firsthand. There is an urgency to spread a message of prevention right now to young people.
Our Schools Education Program
The SBS Sports Schools Program is dedicated to protecting young people and families from the painful economic, relational and mental health consequence. We speak directly to high schools and parent groups virtually and in-person.
Student-focused sessions
Our student‑focused sessions use accessible language, relatable examples, and real stories to help young people:

Understand how gambling creates dopamine, substance free

Recognize distorted and healthy ways of thinking about money

Learn how apps and algorithms keep people hooked

Develop critical thinking skills

Identify manipulative marketing techniques (Influencers, “free play”, etc.)
Workshops for parents and caregivers
Parents are often unaware of how quickly kids get exposed to sports betting — or how easy it is for teens to access it. Our parent sessions cover:

The modern sports‑betting landscape
